Morning Owls Web Developement

Website/Email Deliverability- March 2024

In accordance with the new email deliverability rules for Google and Yahoo we have verified your account and ensured your domain is in compliance.

Your website utilizes the domain email anytime someone signs up for your newsletter or sends you a message through the contact form. While most of the rules pertain to those that send a few thousand emails a day it is still good practice to include the records (SPF & DKIM) that authenticate your domain and ensure deliverability. At Morning Owls we proactively add these records with each site build. Additionally, we set up DMARC reports to alert us to potential problems.

Things You Can Do to Prevent Your Email from Going to Spam

  • When sending out bulk email or other solicitations include an unsubscribe feature and respond to any requests promptly. It is better to have recipients unsubscribe than to mark your emails as spam.
  • Remove any non-legit emails from your mailing list. If you receive notification deliverability email with bounced emails take note of the recipient and reason and take proper action. A bounce rate of higher than 2% stains your reputation with mailbox providers.
  • Encourage your clients to add admin@yourdomain.com to their contact list. (Replace yourdomain with your actual domain). This can help their email client recognize you as an expected sender of information.
  • When receiving a spam, contact form email from your website, which is inevitable, DO NOT mark it as spam. If the sender of the email is your own domain just delete the message instead of marking it as spam. Otherwise, you are diminishing your own domain to mail clients.

Spam can become a serious problem that degrades our ability to communicate and conduct business. We can minimize its impact by keeping these few guidelines in mind as we manage our mailboxes. If you have any questions, feel free to call or send an email to Dana at dana@morningowls.com.
